My favourite sport is any kind of tennis, my favourite place to visit is my bach in Coopers Beach, and my favourite subject is writing because I can use lots of gems and language features like metaphors and similes.

Week 1

Why do people float in really salty water?

Salt water is denser than fresh water. The human body is made up of mostly fresh water so is less dense than really salty water and will be more buoyant. That's why people float in really salty water.

Why do we spend so much money sending astronauts into space?

Other countries spend a lot of money on sending astronauts into space because the human space programme has led to many amazing benefits, like personal computers and solar energy. The International Space Station has an environment that can't be created anywhere else on earth, making it important for new scientific discoveries.

This week we also learnt about Jo Boaler and her students.
Here are 7 key messages she is trying to get to you:
  1. Maths is not about speed, but thinking deeply.
  2. I learn from my mistakes.
  3. Maths is about effort and asking great questions(How, why, what if).
  4. There's no such thing as a math person, anyone can achieve to high levels.
  5. I will have a growth mindset-"I can do it!"
  6. Maths is a broad, creative, and visual subject. It is everywhere in my daily life.
  7. When I believe in myself, my brain grows differently.

Week 3
This week it was Travelwise week. If you came to school in a Travelwise way, you would get a sticker. I got a Golden Ticket for coming in mufti on Thursday, and a prize on Wednesday for taking a selfie with my Mum when we walked to school.

On Friday the whole school did a Giant Walk around the block and we went from the front gate all the way around the streets to the back gate. We saw my house on the way!

This Tuesday we had sports and my class did tennis with Mrs Cowie. I like playing tennis because running around chasing the ball and trying to hit it back over the net is fun.
Week 4
On Tuesday we had Maori Cultural Day, when you express your culture by wearing the flag colours or your culture's clothes and bringing food for you and other people to share. We also did presentations of our culture to the class, sharing facts about it. My culture is Tongan. Maloelelei!
